Dear Senator:
On behalf of our affiliated unions representing hundreds of thousands of workers who build, operate, and maintain our nation’s transportation networks, the Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO (TTD), urges you to join a letter led by Congressman Trent Kelly (R-MS), Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA), Senator Todd Young (R-IN), and Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) urging House and Senate leadership to include provisions of the SHIPS for America Act of 2025 in the final National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2027.
The SHIPS for America Act of 2025 offers a comprehensive and coordinated strategy to revitalize our domestic maritime industry. As America’s largest transportation labor federation, TTD supports including the bill’s provisions in the FY27 NDAA, which will institute reforms long sought by labor to strengthen America’s maritime workforce and fortify our national and economic security.
