Washington, D.C. — Larry I. Willis, president of the Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO (TTD), issues this statement on the U.S. Senate’s confirmation of Jennifer Homendy to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB):

Yesterday, the Senate confirmed Jennifer Homendy as one of the newest members of the National Transportation Safety Board. Few who work in transportation policy are as well-suited for this honor.

“Jennifer has spent her career fighting for common-sense safety reforms that benefit both passengers and frontline workers. She is deeply passionate about transportation safety, and her proven, effective advocacy has led to countless improvements at all levels and in all modes of our nation’s transportation system. I am confident she will bring this same laser-like focus, grit, and dogged determination to her role as a member of the NTSB.

“I am particularly proud that Jennifer served the interests of transportation workers here at TTD. She will bring to her new role a deep understanding of the needs, responsibilities, and obstacles faced by America’s frontline transportation workforce.

“On behalf of our 32 affiliated unions, I offer our collective congratulations to Jennifer for this important achievement in her career, and look forward to continuing our work together to enhance transportation safety.”
