Transportation Labor Congratulates Biden, Harris on Democratic Nomination

By Admin

Washington, DC — Larry Willis, president of the Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO (TTD), issues this statement congratulating Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Kamala Harris on their presidential and vice-presidential nominations:

“This week history was made when working families, voters, parents, teachers, delegates, and other leaders in the Democratic Party voted to nominate Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Kamala Harris to become the next president and vice president of the United States.

“Those who cast votes for this ticket know what we know: working families deserve leaders in Washington who will put their interests first, guide our country through the worst public health and economic crises in a century, understand that black lives matter, and fight for the kind of smart investments in our transportation network that will grow the middle class and improve our economy. Vice President Biden and Senator Harris are those leaders.

“Throughout his more than three-decade career in public service, Vice President Biden has prioritized the needs of working people by fighting for policies that create good, middle-class transportation jobs, strengthening union rights, and improving workplace safety. During her time in public office, Senator Harris prosecuted wage theft, held big banks accountable in the wake of the housing crisis, fought for policies that made it easier for workers to form and join unions, and protected health care and retirement security. Together, they will give working people what President Trump has failed to: a voice in Washington.

“We congratulate Vice President Biden and Senator Harris on their nomination and look forward to ensuring they become the next president and vice president of the United States.”
