Washington, DC — Greg Regan, president of the Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO (TTD), issues this statement on the ongoing bipartisan infrastructure negotiations in the Senate:
“Working with Congress and the administration to deliver on President Biden’s promise of major, and long-overdue investments in America’s infrastructure remains the top priority for the Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO. We are encouraged by the bipartisan group of Senate negotiators who, yesterday, signaled that significant progress has been made on a final agreement. We urge them to continue their work with the administration and leaders in the House of Representatives to iron out their differences and put forward legislation that meets the needs of all Americans.
“We cannot squander this moment. Americans deserve serious federal investments that will ensure the creation of good jobs with strong worker and safety protections; safe roads and bridges; reliable and expanded public transportation and passenger rail; efficient movement of goods across ports, roads and rail lines; and world-class airports that keep pace with investments being made around the rest of the world. We know that working people across our entire transportation system are ready to rise to this occasion, and their eyes are now on Congress to complete a strong, bipartisan agreement for consideration. Failure to act will impair our economy, stifle much needed job creation, and harm American competitiveness.”
