WASHINGTON, DC — Edward Wytkind, President of the Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO (TTD), issued the following statement praising last night’s Senate confirmation of Duane Woerth as U.S. Ambassador of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO):
“Duane Woerth will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to ICAO. For decades Woerth has demonstrated his deep understanding of the complex issues that stem from the globalization of air transportation. Having a skilled and forceful Ambassador during ICAO deliberations will serve the Obama Administration well and will ensure that U.S. aviation concerns, including those of aviation labor, are brought before this important UN global aviation policy forum.
“We praise the Obama Administration for selecting Duane Woerth for the ICAO post and we look forward to working with Ambassador Woerth to advance common sense international aviation policies that promote aviation safety and good jobs in America.”
