Washington, DC – Greg Regan, president of the Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO (TTD), issues this statement in response to today’s publication of a proposed rule on flight attendant duty time:
“We applaud the publication of a proposed rule requiring 10 hours rest for flight attendants between duty days. TTD and our unions representing flight attendants fought hard for this provision in the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018, only to see the previous administration deliberately prevent it from taking effect.”
“Current conditions in the skies have only made clearer what we’ve always known – that fatigue presents serious and unnecessary health and safety risks. The implementation of this rulemaking will improve working conditions for our nation’s flight attendants, and we call on the FAA to do so expeditiously.”
