WASHINGTON — Greg Regan and Shari Semelsberger, President and Secretary-Treasurer of the AFL-CIO Transportation Trades Department (TTD), issued the following statement in response to the Supreme Court’s ruling, pausing a lower court’s order for the Trump Administration to rehire 16,000 probationary federal workers:
“As America’s largest transportation labor federation representing thousands of federal workers, we are extremely disappointed by today’s Supreme Court ruling. It is wrong to terminate employees purely based on their probationary status.
“Our nation was founded upon the ideal that our government is of the people, by the people, and for the people. The federal workforce exists with these ideals in mind, serving millions of Americans across all federal agencies, departments, and programs.
“We remain committed as ever to the labor movement’s collective fight to restore the livelihoods of these dedicated civil servants who were wrongfully terminated.”
