Washington, DC – Greg Regan and Shari Semelsberger, president and secretary-treasurer of the Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO (TTD), issued the following statement on Jennifer Homendy’s renomination to lead the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB):
“On behalf of millions of frontline transportation workers and the unions that represent them, we applaud President Biden for nominating Jennifer Homendy to serve another term as chair of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), and we urge the Senate to quickly confirm her nomination.
“In her time leading the Board, Jennifer has remained steadfast in her devotion to the independent federal agency’s mission, and continues to champion safety for all working people. As we navigate a historic period for transportation and infrastructure development, Jennifer’s leadership will guide the nation to a safe, secure transportation system that works for everyone. With several important safety investigations ongoing, we cannot afford any delay in her confirmation.
“Jennifer has proven her unwavering and unapologetic commitment to public safety and service during her years on the Board. There is not a leader more qualified, more experienced, or more deserving to lead the NTSB. Transportation labor proudly stands behind Jennifer Homendy and hopes for a swift reconfirmation. ”
