WASHINGTON — Greg Regan and Shari Semelsberger, President and Secretary-Treasurer of the Transportation Trades Department (TTD) of the AFL-CIO, issued this statement after the Senate confirmation of Shailen Bhatt as Administrator of the Federal Highway Administration:
“We congratulate Mr. Bhatt on his return to the Department of Transportation and welcome his expertise as the former executive director of the Colorado DOT and secretary of the Delaware DOT.
“Mr. Bhatt’s confirmation comes at a pivotal moment during the continuous implementation of the historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
“TTD and our affiliated unions look forward to working with Mr. Bhatt as he leads the allocation of more than $350 billion in state funding towards state infrastructure projects. His years of experience in federal, state, and private infrastructure will serve the American people and ensure the delivery of safety and innovation to our roads, bridges, and highways.
“We are confident in Mr. Bhatt’s commitment to rebuilding and expanding transportation networks across the United States in a way that delivers for equity, for workers, and for economic growth.
