TTD Applauds Strengthening of Domestic Content in NDAA

By Admin

WASHINGTON– Greg Regan and Shari Semelsberger, President and Secretary-Treasurer of the Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO (TTD), issued the following statement applauding the inclusion of language that would strengthen domestic content preferences for major defense programs in the Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA):

“As the nation’s largest transportation labor federation, we represent thousands of workers who support America’s national defense systems. From machinists to mariners to steelworkers, America’s defense workers deserve the peace of mind that comes from knowing domestic manufacturers are prioritized in the development of the U.S. defense industrial base. Domestic manufacturing prevents security vulnerabilities, creates a more reliable and resilient supply chain, and allows the United States to partner more closely with our allies.

“We welcome Congress’ inclusion of language in the Fiscal Year 2024 defense bill to increase domestic content preferences for major defense programs from 55 percent to 75 percent. Transportation labor thanks lawmakers for recognizing the benefits of utilizing American-made materials.”
