WASHINGTON — Greg Regan, President of the Transportation Trades Department (TTD) of the AFL-CIO, issued the following statement after a key vote in the U.S. House of Representatives to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) by a vote of 387-26, sending it to the president’s desk for signature:
“I join labor leaders around the country in praising this swift action by the House of Representatives. As America’s largest transportation labor federation in the country, representing hundreds of thousands of aviation workers, we are invested in ensuring a robust, modern, and successful Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The bipartisan FAA reauthorization bill will sustainably grow the aviation workforce, improve quality of service for passengers, and enhance industry safety as a whole.
“With the bill on the way to President Biden’s desk, we look forward to continuing to work with our federal partners to deliver a stronger, safer aviation industry for workers and the flying public. America is the gold standard for aviation and this bill will ensure that we remain so by making necessary investments in safety, funding, and staffing across the system.”
