WASHINGTON, DC – Edward Wytkind, President of the Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO, issued the following statement in reaction to Senate confirmation of Richard Lidinsky as Federal Maritime Commissioner:
“Richard Lidinsky’s background and past work experience make him well qualified to serve as a Federal Maritime Commissioner. Having worked 35 years on maritime issues, Lidinsky will bring a high level of expertise and provide a balanced approach to the challenges facing the maritime industry and its workforce.
“The Obama Administration has selected a true professional who will serve with distinction in ensuring a secure maritime transportation system, enforcing our shipping statutes, and protecting against unfair foreign trade practices that harm this industry and its employees.”
