WASHINGTON, DC – Edward Wytkind, President of the Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO, issued the following statement following passage of a new jobs bill in the House of Representatives:
“Although job losses are slowing, this economy continues to bleed jobs and Congress is right to act. We have advocated for a new round of investments in all modes of transportation to boost the economy and job creation.
“The House will now consider a jobs bill that rightfully targets key transportation investments – a proven job creator. In fact, highway and transit accounted for 4 percent of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act money but created 25 percent of the new jobs. These are the kind of results Americans want and workers need.”
