WASHINGTON, DC—Edward Wytkind, President of the Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO, issued this statement following the passing of Building and Construction Trades Department, AFL-CIO President Mark H. Ayers on April 8:
“The labor movement has lost a fighter and a friend.
“We offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mark Ayers, and to all those who worked alongside him in the labor movement, especially in the building and construction trades.
“Mark’s passion and commitment were apparent to all of us in his never-ending battle to put millions of construction workers on the job rebuilding our nation.
“We are profoundly saddened by Mark’s untimely passing, but we also are heartened with the thought that his tireless efforts to lift the lives of working Americans will not soon be forgotten.”
