Larry I. Willis, Greg Regan Elected New Leaders of TTD

Executive Committee Honors Departing Longtime President Edward Wytkind

Washington, DC — Larry I. Willis and Greg Regan were elected unanimously today as President and Secretary-Treasurer, respectively, of the Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO (TTD), by the organization’s Executive Committee. Outgoing President Edward Wytkind, who gave his full support to Willis and Regan, stepped down after more than two decades of service. During his tenure, he built TTD into a strong, results-driven advocacy organization, and grew the number of member unions from 18 to today’s 32. Wytkind will continue to dedicate himself to issues that affect working people, our nation’s mobility, and the economy.

“I am honored to have the support of America’s transportation labor leaders. I look forward to advancing the interests of the men and women who work on the frontlines of our nation’s transportation system as President of TTD,” Willis said. “Under Ed’s direction, we have become a leader in advocating for policies that empower working people and strengthen and expand our vast transportation network. I am eager to work with our affiliates and Greg to build on what he has created.”

“Serving TTD as Secretary-Treasurer is truly an honor, and I thank the Executive Committee for this opportunity,” Regan said. “I am proud to stand with and for those who make a living by keeping this country moving, and look forward to continuing to work with TTD’s unions to advance our common agenda.”

Willis, who has served TTD in a variety of roles for nearly 20 years, was first elected Secretary-Treasurer in 2010. Regan has been with TTD for six years, and prior to joining the organization he worked on Capitol Hill, notably as chief of staff for a senior member of Congress.

The Executive Committee saluted Wytkind for his leadership, unwavering commitment to working people, and laser-like focus on TTD’s mission. Wytkind helped position TTD as a significant player in the transportation and labor arenas, and solidified the organization’s reputation on Capitol Hill and in the executive branch as a strong voice and effective advocate on major transportation policy debates.

Wytkind will continue to work with the labor movement as an advisor to the leadership of the national AFL-CIO. He will also work with labor, industry, think tanks, and government at all levels to push for infrastructure investment, advocate for smart policies, and tackle new challenges, such as the changing nature of work and the wave of automation sweeping across the economy.

“It has been a privilege to lead TTD and work with so many dedicated people. Working with our affiliates, we have built an organization that can produce real outcomes for the people who work on the frontlines of our vast transportation network. I have the utmost confidence in Larry and Greg to carry this legacy forward. They are smart, strategic, and will accomplish great things for transportation unions and their members,” said Wytkind.
