WASHINGTON, DC – Edward Wytkind, President of the Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO (TTD), issued the following statement regarding Gov. Rick Scott’s decision to reject federal high speed rail funding for Florida:
“For the 12 percent of Floridians who remain unemployed, Gov. Scott’s decision to kill high speed rail in Florida is tragic. Rather than using these investments to create as many as 48,000 good jobs and modernize the state’s transportation system, Gov. Scott has elected to reject these funds. He has chosen to send these investments to other states that are serious about creating jobs and embracing progress. The governor’s decision is a major setback for the people of Florida, and for Americans who are starving for good jobs and better transportation.”
