Wytkind, Ingrao to Continue Advocacy for Nation’s Transportation Workers

Las Vegas, NV — The AFL-CIO’s Transportation Trades Department (TTD) today re-elected Edward Wytkind as President and Michael Ingrao as Secretary-Treasurer. Wytkind and Ingrao have each served in these capacities since 2003.

“It is a tremendous honor to serve as TTD’s President, and both Mike and I appreciate today’s vote of confidence. We will continue to fight aggressively on behalf of the nation’s transportation workers,” Wytkind said after a meeting of AFL-CIO transportation union leaders.

Wytkind, who served as the TTD’s Executive Director for almost 13 years before becoming the organization’s President, testifies frequently before Congress and serves as a national spokesperson for transportation labor. He has worked with transportation union presidents to increase transportation security, assist workers hurt by the economic crisis in the airline industry, expand our transportation infrastructure including transit, airports and air traffic control, Amtrak and commuter rail, and seaports and highways, and protect bargaining and organizing rights for workers.

Ingrao, a former TTD Chief of Staff, brings nearly 30 years of experience in the labor movement, 17 of which were spent in the national AFL-CIO’s Political Department. In addition to managing the day-to-day financial affairs for the organization, Ingrao will continue to direct TTD’s political program.

TTD represents 35 member unions in the trucking, bus, transit, highway, aviation, rail, longshore, maritime and related industries. For more information, see ttd.org
