Washington, DC – Greg Regan, president of the Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO (TTD), issues this statement applauding passage of the INVEST in America Act by the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee:
“Transportation labor applauds passage of the INVEST in America Act by the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee early this morning. Working families are now one step closer to having the kind of bold investments in our highway, transit, and rail infrastructure that will create and sustain good, union jobs, improve quality of life, and ensure America will remain economically competitive for years to come.
“Included in this legislation are a number of key priorities frontline transportation workers have long fought for, including strong labor protections, measures that will enhance safety across our transportation network and in our communities, Buy America rules, and assurances that new technologies will not come at the expense of good jobs.
“We thank Chairs DeFazio, Norton and Payne Jr. for their leadership, and encourage lawmakers in the House of Representatives to prioritize the needs of working people by passing these historic investments.”
