TTD’s rail unions represent frontline workers across America’s passenger rail network, including those who operate trains, maintain and repair equipment, provide quality customer service both on and off-board, and who construct facilities. There is no one who knows Amtrak like these men and women, and you will not find a greater advocate for passenger rail service in this country than transportation labor.
That’s the message TTD Secretary-Treasurer Greg Regan presented to members of Congress earlier this week when he testified at a hearing on ‘Amtrak Now and Into the Future’ before the Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials. While speaking before lawmakers, Greg called on Congress to secure Amtrak’s future by increasing funding, maintaining a nationwide network and preserving the passenger experience, ensuring the carrier remains a creator of good, middle-class jobs and improving safety.
Greg was joined at the hearing by Jack Dinsdale, National Vice President, Transportation Communications Union, Robert Guy, Illinois State Director, Sheet Metal Air Rail Transportation – Transportation Division who also testified before lawmakers, and representatives from the Transport Workers Union who submitted written testimony.
