As the countdown to the 2016 presidential election keeps ticking, several GOP presidential candidates have inserted transportation devolution into their campaign platforms. They seem to think such proposals will win them votes. Ed joined the Rick Smith Show to discuss why we think otherwise:
“Devolution is a fancy word for dumping all the responsibilities on the states and basically obliterating the federal transportation investment program by getting rid of the gas tax and telling states, ‘you can do it better, and oh by the way, you have to go find the money because we’re going to kill all the federal funding programs, too.’”
