Washington, DC — Larry Willis, President of the Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO (TTD), issues this statement honoring ATU President Larry Hanley who passed away Tuesday:
“The labor movement and working families everywhere lost a true brother and friend. Larry Hanley was a charismatic leader and passionate advocate who devoted his life to fighting for social, racial, and economic justice. From waging campaigns to secure better wages and safer working conditions for transit drivers to prioritizing the education of ATU members to guiding policy as a member of TTD’s Executive Committee, Larry never missed an opportunity to empower and uplift working people. Our hearts go out to all those who knew and loved him, and to the entire ATU family. Larry will be missed, but his legacy will not be forgotten.”
